High-speed solution for the requirements of book production
Expectations of digital book printing are rising: Flexibility and speed must mesh seamlessly to meet the challenges of the market. This is exactly where the FormerLine from manroland Goss comes in. With its ability to produce between 4 and 16-page signatures, accommodate different web widths and stabilize book blocks with head and foot gluing, it is a forward-looking solution. At the same time, a production speed of up to 305 meters per minute ensures a significant increase in efficiency and opens up new possibilities for book production.
Customized solutions for demanding production lines
Since 2017, GGP Media has been relying on manroland Goss' FormerLine technology at its Pößneck site, which has been gradually integrated into the production lines. The close cooperation between the two companies has enabled digital workflows and folding technologies to be further developed and adapted to the requirements of book production. The continuous optimizations led to a significant increase in efficiency and production quality.
One milestone was the commissioning of a new FormerLine generation last year. This works seamlessly with a 42-inch digital printing system and ensures fast and flexible processing of short to medium runs – ideal for the book market, which is increasingly reliant on adaptability.
Global presence: innovation for worldwide use
The FormerLine ensures impressive results not only in Pößneck, but also internationally. Another FormerLine system was recently put into operation at the Berryville site of the Book Printing Group in the USA. It is optimally matched to high-performance inkjet printing systems and underlines the global success of this technology.
Martin Hawich, Head of Production/Technology at GGP Media, summarizes the added value: “Thanks to the state-of-the-art digital folding system from manroland Goss, we can now take full advantage of the flexibility of digital printing without compromising on speed and efficiency. The FormerLine is the perfect solution to consistently deliver the highest quality and most efficiently produced print products to our customers in the shortest possible time.”
Innovation for the book production of the future
With its exceptional speed, the ability to process different web widths and the flexible adaptation to modern digital printing systems, the FormerLine takes the finishing of digital print products to a new level. These features give manroland Goss customers a clear competitive edge and create a basis for the book production of the future.
